As part of our COVID response, clinicians now triage imaging requests using our electronic health records system by writing the word Red, Amber or Green in the clinical indication.
•Red - Urgent, 2 week wait, cancer pathway and any patient with a cancer history
•Amber - No known cancer but clinical indication indicates the scan can’t be deferred.
•Green - Can wait. Can safely be deferred for up to 6 months, but these scans could get booked sooner if things go really well.
If a shielded patient is marked as red or amber please ensure the patient understands that they must attend for the imaging examination despite their shielded status.
If you do not want a patient to attend the imaging examination due to shielding, please do not request the examination until you are happy for them to leave home.
Please ensure you indicate how the patient should be categorised in relation to the above RAG rating. If no rating is indicated, the referral will be considered “green”.
