The Integrated Children’s and Adolescent Service has been established to provide complementary care alongside orthodox treatments. The clinic sees children up to 18 years old with a wide variety of illnesses. Our clinics offer a patient-centred holistic approach, safely integrating complementary medicine appropriately in a variety of conditions, including dietary and lifestyle advice and symptom management.

Our team is led by a consultant paediatrician. All of our doctors have trained in complementary therapies.
The team works closely with the UCLH paediatric and adolescent teams and other professionals elsewhere who are involved in your child’s care. All the treatments discussed by the children’s clinic team can be used safely alongside conventional treatments. We can also offer advice to parents and young people on both conventional and complementary treatments.
Children with serious and chronic medical conditions need to be under paediatric care elsewhere in addition to this service.
- Pain syndromes (including chronic tension-type headache and migraine and chronic pain)
- Rheumatic conditions, such as juvenile arthritis
- Skin diseases, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, vitiligo, molluscum and warts
- Recurrent infections, such as tonsillitis, ear infection (otitis), bronchitis and herpes
- Allergic disorders, such as hay fever, asthma and multiple food intolerances
- Bowel disorders, such as gastro-oesophageal reflux, constipation, abdominal migraine, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease
- Feeding difficulties
- Managing stress and anxiety
- Sleep problems
- Functional developmental and learning problems including autism spectrum disorders
- Behavioural concerns and disorders including hyperactivity and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)
The team also provides advice on complementary treatments for symptoms associated with childhood cancers.
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know at least 48 hours beforehand so we can offer your appointment to someone else. If you do not attend your appointment without telling us we may refer you back to your GP. Following your treatment, you will be referred to your GP.
