I decided to become a volunteer at UCLH, because I wanted to gain experience in order to move over into the healthcare sector. Not only did I achieve this invaluable experience, but I also met amazing people from all walks of life (both staff and patients), which helped me to increase my confidence.
I developed professional and personal skills that have helped me immensely in life and I was fortunate enough to receive two job offers in my chosen field during my time as a volunteer.
As a maternity support worker, my role is varied, fulfilling, and often exciting. I'm lucky enough to assist new mothers and their newborns, and work with a fantastic team. I'm now hopefully on route to becoming a qualified midwife, and I can honestly say I owe it all to my time as a volunteer, here at UCLH.
