We offer comprehensive management of kidney stone disease, including in-house lithotripsy, rigid ureteroscopy, flexible ureterorenoscopy and laser disintegration of stones in ureters and kidneys and percutaneous nephrolithotomy. The team meets twice weekly to discuss the management of all local and tertiary referrals. We offer five stone outpatient clinics and six stone and endourology operating theatre lists per week. Our service also includes:
- Insertion of plastic and metallic stents to unblock kidneys obstructed by pelvic and abdominal malignancies
- Rapid imaging including CT scans
- Rapid uroradiological interventions, such as nephrostomy tube insertion for kidney obstruction
- Rendezvous procedures to manage complex ureteric strictures
- Metabolic investigations to determine cause of stone formation and prevent stone recurrence
- Minimally-invasive management by ureteroscopy and laser widening of pelvi-ureteric junction (PUJ) obstruction
- Minimally-invasive management of transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) by ureterorenoscopy and laser ablation and avoiding nephroureterectomy
- Minimally-invasive management and stenting of ureteric injury in obstetrics, gynaecological and general surgical operations
- Endourological support of UCH endometriosis service.
