The Division of Medical Specialties includes the specialties of Medicine for the Elderly, Respiratory Medicine, General Medicine, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Cardiology.
We provide services for local patients as well as being a specialist referral centre for a much wider area, including tertiary referrals from other centres in the UK. A key priority for the division is the seamless delivery of high quality clinical services to patients between primary and secondary healthcare providers.
The Division provides extensive day case, non-elective and outpatient services for all specialties. During 2009/10 we successfully cared for approximately 6,000 inpatients, delivered 3,500 day case procedures and saw 62,000 outpatients.
As part of UCL Partners (an academic health science partnership) we make a significant contribution to research across all specialties within our Division. This enables us to deliver world class research based clinical care to all patients.
Our highly experienced medical teams work in partnership with excellent nurse consultants, clinical nurse specialists as well as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, dietitians and technicians to ensure a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
We are actively involved in supporting the education and training of all staff as well as students from UCL, the Royal Free medical school, London South Bank and City universities.
