UCLH takes its commitment to the environment seriously and has a Net Zero Strategy known as 'Critical Care For Our Climate,' which builds upon our existing Green Plan. This strategy offers a detailed and practical approach to addressing environmental challenges for the upcoming decade and beyond.
Our primary objective is to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2031 for the emissions we directly control and 2040 for our total emissions. To help us achieve this, we have established four priority boards (see below).
We are dedicated to treating and supporting our patients and staff with the highest quality of care whilst minimising our environmental impact. We're also actively preparing for the changing times and shifting climate while strengthening our connections with the local community. In 2021, we proudly received a Sustainability Award for our public engagement efforts, including our declaration of a climate and health emergency.
Our aim is to embed sustainable development principles into all aspects of our work, and our staff are at the core of these efforts. We encourage and support staff sustainability and promote active travel initiatives. There are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
