Individuals are able to access their own. In some cases, certain third parties have the right to ask for copies of medical records.
For living individuals, access to medical records is generally made under the Data Protection Act 2018.
- For deceased individuals, access to medical records is generally via Access to Health Records Act 1990.
- As a Trust, we take the security and confidentiality of our patient information very seriously, which is why we ask for two forms of identification before we will release medical records.
