The clinical support services division comprises the following services:
Dietetics
Dieticians are involved in providing effective, evidence-based nutritional assessment, dietary advice and support to patients, their carers and all staff involved in patient care. The main aim of this advice is the prevention or correction of nutrition-related symptoms and/or disease.
Pharmacy and medicines management
UCLH Pharmacy provides a comprehensive array of pharmacy services, with the aim of ensuring safe, effective and economical use of medicines throughout UCLH, and supporting education, training and research.
Occupational therapy and physiotherapy services
Occupational therapy and physiotherapy teams at UCLH work across a range of specialties in acute hospital and community settings. Services are provided for inpatients and outpatients. Team members rotate across University College Hospital, National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery and University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street.
Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) assess, diagnose and manage communication and swallowing problems in adults and children at UCH. They work closely with other professionals including nurses, doctors, dietitians, physios and occupational therapists. They offer videofluoroscopy and Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow (FEES) when indicated.
Tissue viability service
UCLH has a dedicated nurse led inpatient tissue viability team covering all hospital sites. The nurses in the tissue viability team can provide specialist advice on all types of wounds, including pressure ulcers and surgical wounds.
Transport
The transport service provides a non-emergency patient transport to patients who are eligible under the Department of Health criteria.
Contact centre
The outpatient contact centre for University College Hospital is located at 250 Euston Road. All outpatient referrals are received and registered by the contact centre. It is responsible for a variety of tasks including registering patients, making and rescheduling appointments, and managing the administrative pathway of NHS e-Referral Service (formally Choose and Book referrals) and faxed referrals.
Switchboard
The switchboard delivers its service for all of the hospitals within UCLH. It is located at 250 Euston Road. The switchboard is a 24/7 operational site, manned 365 days of the year. We are contactable on 020 3456 7890.
