If you have a pregnancy related concern you need advice for or wish to be reviewed by a midwife or doctor outside of your usual routine antenatal appointment you may attend the maternity triage. We also operate an emergency telephone triage on 020 3447 9400 (select option 2).

MFAU is open 24/7 and is staffed by experienced midwives that provide urgent and follow up care. Find out how to contact your midwife.

During working hours (weekdays 9am – 5pm) the unit is staffed by specialist doctors and a team of two experienced midwives that provide follow-up care on an appointment basis.

After 5pm, the unit is staffed by midwives with access to the medical team as required.

What you should expect on MFAU

When you first arrive in MFAU you will be greeted by a member of staff. Waiting times will vary depending on how busy we are, but we will aim to see you within 30 minutes from your arrival.

We will take a short history of the reason for your visit. You will then be asked to wait in the waiting area for further assessment and treatment if needed. This system ensures that you will be seen based on clinical priority. It is important to remember this as you might notice that you may wait shorter or longer than others.
