We are working with UCL on a new centre of excellence for neuroscience on Grays Inn Road, due to open in 2025. The centre will provide exceptional NHS and research facilities to support patients with neuroscience conditions.
The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) and Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM) will have an outpatient unit in the new centre, as well as a clinical and research MRI suite.
Alongside the NHS facilities, the centre will support over 500 researchers from UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology (IoN) along with the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) national headquarters.
The National Brain Appeal, the charity dedicated to raising funds for the NHNN and the IoN, has committed to raise £7 million towards the new centre. Read more and find out how you can donate.

On the ground floor of the building there will be a light and airy outpatient unit, including 21 clinic rooms, phlebotomy and a pharmacy. The new facilities will provide improved access, as well as opening up more opportunities for patients to take part in research into neuroscience conditions.
When the new centre opens, some outpatient clinics currently held at the NHNN and RLHIM at Queen Square will relocate to Grays Inn Road.
There will be no changes to patient appointments until the building opens. Any future changes will be communicated to you by your treatment team.
The basement of the building will be home to a new MRI suite shared between UCLH and UCL, providing additional capacity for neuroscience patients, as well as imaging for research. There will be five, high-performance, MRI scanners in the new centre.

The neuroscience centre will deliver a world-class research environment for the Institute of Neurology and the Dementia Research Institute to carry out research into neuroscience conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s disease, neuromuscular diseases, Parkinson’s disease, motor neuron diseases, stroke and epilepsy.
The state-of-the-art facilities at Grays Inn Road will accelerate the discovery of new treatments by increasing opportunities for patients to take part in research studies, and expanding our research MRI capacity.

If you need assistance to plan or make a journey, the National Rail Enquiries website provides information on the support available. The page provides a summary of the services available including a list of train companies and their access information.
It is recommended that you book help 24 hours before you travel. This enables staff to give you as much information as possible before your travel; make alternative arrangements for you if the station is not step free or not staffed at the time you wish to travel; and ensure that there are enough staff for all the assistance requests at a station.
Help with transport fares
If you are in receipt of benefits you may be entitled to reclaim transport fares when visiting the hospital for an inpatient or outpatient appointment. Please ask the clinic staff for an attendance form and take this to the appropriate hospital's Cashiers Office. Reimbursement can be made at the time of your visit if you can produce evidence that you are a claimant.
