We provide intensive chemotherapy and stem cell transplants to adult in-patients and provide care, compassion and expertise in managing subsequent side effects. Our aim is to monitor patients closely and respond promptly to complications.

cn1.jpgI find working with haematology patients facing life threatening diseases and treatments challenging but rewarding. We are a confident and autonomous nursing team. As people we aim to be warm, welcoming and supporting and enjoy building therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through what can be difficult times for them.  Jon - Charge Nurse

What our staff say...

‘Working in haematology is challenging and rewarding. We have a very good, supportive team.’ Lorraine - Staff Nurse

‘Excellent team on the ward, staff are very knowledgable’ ‘Good support for new starters in particular’. Shaheena - Staff Nurse

‘I chose UCLH as I wanted to work in a large teaching hospital where I have always felt valued for my care of haematology patients. I am able to enjoy delivering basic nursing care as learning the more complex care of nursing haematology patients. I have been fully supported to do haematology/ oncology and bone marrow transplant courses, as well studying a masters in advanced nursing. I was able to travel abroad to attend a European haematology conference - something I never imagined I'd experience as a ward nurse in the NHS’. Jos - Staff Nurse
