Professional background
Dr Sharpe works as Consultant Paediatrician and Clinical Lead of the Integrated Children and Adolescent Service at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM) UCLH NHS Foundation Trust.
After studying medicine at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, she completed her higher specialist training in General Paediatrics at tertiary and district general hospitals in the Southeast and Southwest of London. Dr Sharpe is an experienced Consultant Paediatrician in General Paediatrics and Community Child Health whose main post is based at a major London hospital Trust.
Within the Integrated Children and Adolescent service at RLHIM, Dr Sharpe leads a team of medical doctors dually trained in conventional and complementary medicines. She is passionate about the provision of a person-centred, holistic approach, including self-care, which in particular ensures complementary treatments are used safely and appropriately alongside conventional treatments.
Dr Sharpe sees children and young people referred with chronic pain disorders, often with other conditions or complexity, working to improve their health and wellbeing, together with her team, and in collaboration with the referring Paediatric and Adolescent teams at UCLH, GOSH and further afield. She runs a weekly Paediatric Acupuncture clinic treating patients with chronic headache/ migraine and chronic pain as recommended by the National Institute of Clinical excellence (NICE).
