Professor Joyce trained in psychiatry at the Bethlem and Maudsley Hospitals. She spent several years as a research worker at the Institute of Psychiatry, where she was a Wellcome Trust Lecturer in Mental Health, and at the USA National Institutes of Health. Before moving to UCL/UCLH in 2005, she was Professor of Neuropsychiatry at Imperial College London. She has been Chair of The British Neuropsychiatry Association and The Faculty of Neuropsychiatry, Royal College of Psychiatrists. As well as accepting general neuropsychiatry referrals, she runs a specialist clinic for Tourette’s syndrome and provides internal neuropsychiatric opinions for patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. She is a Trustee of Tourette’s Action.
