Professional background
Ben Lamb is a consultant urological and robotic surgeon at Barts Health and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He moved to London in 2022 from Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he had been a consultant since 2018.
Having studied medicine at the University of Cambridge (MA) and the University of London (MBBS), he gained a PhD from Imperial College, London in 2011. Ben undertook his specialist urology training in London before undertaking a fellowship in urological oncology and robotic surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
Ben is urology cancer lead at Barts Health. In addition to his clinical work, Ben is on the executive committee of the BAUS section of Oncology, and in 2022 was appointed as a Prostate Cancer UK Clinical Champion.
Ben looks after patients at all stages of the prostate cancer pathway- from referral, to diagnosis, and treatment. Ben undertakes Retzius-sparing robotic prostatectomy and has presented and published on his experience of almost 200 cases using this technique.

Research interests
Ben is involved in MDT (multidisciplinary cancer teams) research, and has written and presented on leadership, decision-making, and non-technical skills in this area. He is also involved in quality improvement and is passionate about improving healthcare systems and prostate cancer care.
He finds teaching students, healthcare professionals and doctors about communication skills, MDT improvement and urological cancers very rewarding.
