Professional background

Dr Mon is a consultant anaesthetist and lead for bariatric anaesthesia. She graduated from the Royal Free and University College London Medical School in 2006 and trained in anaesthesia across the country, including in South Yorkshire and North & South London. She completed competitive fellowships in obstetric anaesthesia, bariatric and upper GI anaesthesia and perioperative medicine. Her research projects have come from these fellowships.

Her scope of practice includes anaesthesia for bariatric surgery, thoracic surgery, interventional bronchoscopy, orthopaedic surgery and obstetrics. She is involved in a weekly bariatric MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting, and is a college tutor for the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Since taking up her consultant post, Dr Mon has led a number of service improvement projects, and has recently set up a complex pre-assessment clinic for elective orthopaedic surgery. In 2021, she was awarded a place on the MBA apprenticeship scheme at Hult Ashridge.
