Professional background

Martina Shephard is a consultant in oral medicine and facial pain at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. 

She completed her undergraduate dentistry and medicine degrees at the University of Sydney, Australia, and worked in a variety of acute hospital and community dental and medical settings in urban and rural/remote Australia prior to relocating to the UK. 

She completed her specialist training in oral medicine at the Eastman Dental Hospital in 2015.  She obtained fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental surgeons in 2006, passed the Intercollegiate specialty fellowship examination in oral medicine in 2015 and obtained fellowship in dental surgery of the Royal College of surgeons of England (Oral Medicine) in 2016. 

Her current role includes the management of oral medicine and facial pain patients.She also has experience in the joint care of patients with oral mucosal involvement related to dermatological conditions and oral mucosal complications following haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.  She is involved in teaching locally as well as to other medical specialties and general dental practitioners.
