Professional background
Dr La Rosa is a consultant paediatrician and endocrine specialist. She graduated from the University of Catania in Italy, completed specialist training in general paediatrics and sub-specialised in paediatric endocrinology focusing on the endocrine care of the young adult, with most of her core training based in a tertiary paediatric and adult endocrine unit at University College Hospital London.
Dr La Rosa’s clinical interests lie mainly in the field of reproductive endocrinology, particularly polycystic ovary syndrome, ovarian function, disorders of sexual development and Turner syndrome. She is involved in the hospital’s dedicated service for young adults as they transition from paediatrics to adult endocrine care, in specialist clinics for women with Tuner syndrome and in the long-term care of patients with other rare genetic conditions.
Dr La Rosa has been also involved in a new project documenting the long-term consequences of disorders of reproductive development, launched in 2014. The Reproductive Life Course Project has now become a UK-wide, multi-centre audit of health in pregnancy in women with Turner syndrome and congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
