Professional background

Dr Mahfouz is a Consultant Radiologist at University College of London Hospital (UCLH) with a specialist interest in breast, gynaecological and general imaging. Dr Mahfouz has specialist expertise in breast, gynaecology and general imaging. He undertakes all aspects of breast diagnostic imaging including mammograms, ultrasound, MRI and CT. He performs all breast-related image guided procedures ultrasound, MRI and stereotactic breast related procedures including vacuum excision. In addition to breast imaging, Dr Mahfouz undertakes emergency, gynaecological and general cross-sectional imaging. Dr Mahfouz attained his Fellowship at the Royal College of Radiologists whilst training in the East Midlands Deanery and undertook subspecialist training in symptomatic and screening breast imaging in addition to gynaecological cross-sectional and ultrasound diagnostics. As a junior doctor he undertook his training at imperial NHS Trust based at Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals. Dr Mahfouz qualified as a doctor from Barts and the Royal London School of Medicine in 2009. 

Having previously been a regional representative for doctors in training at the Royal College of Radiologists, Dr Mahfouz continues to have an active role in teaching and training. He is enthusiastic about education and continues to examine junior doctors at national radiology courses in addition to presenting at international conferences. Dr Mahfouz is part of the interview panel for UCL Medical School.
