Training programmes perform well in this year’s GMC National Training Survey

We are pleased to have performed very well again in this year's General Medical Council National Training Survey.

The GMC’s National Training Survey is the largest annual survey of doctors in training in the UK. Each year, trainees are asked about the quality of their training and work environment. This year, the response rate for UCLH was 97.1 per cent – among the highest in the country.

Our results this year showed continued strong performance in a number of programmes while several areas showed significant improvement on last year’s results. One of the domains where there was greatest improvement was Supportive Environment, which explores issues such as whether trainees are treated fairly and with respect.

Following the publication of results, Health Education England highlighted the continued strong performance in Gastroenterology and Intensive Care Medicine F2 at University College Hospital, while Internal Medicine Training (Stage 1) at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery was commended for showing significant improvement from last year’s results.

Of the achievement, David Probert, Chief executive, said “This is a fantastic result for the teams involved and for the whole organisation. With education being central to our mission at UCLH, these are results to be very proud of and reflect our values, particularly of Teamwork and Improving.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to all those who completed the survey and thank everyone involved in the delivery of Postgraduate Medical Education for all their hard work.”
