The choir, funded by UCLH and GOSH charities, is open to all staff and volunteers working at both trusts. It started in November 2020 as a virtual choir, to provide some much needed down time for staff during the pandemic but has since flourished, with weekly face to face sessions and over 150 people on the UCLH mailing list. Each week around 30 staff, from all job roles and professions, attend. The choir is co-ordinated by the arts and heritage team at UCLH.
Feedback from staff is overwhelmingly positive:
"The UCLH choir is a really joyful and caring community, I've met so many lovely colleagues from attending weekly rehearsals for the past year. Our choir leader is fantastic and she really bonds the group together and makes everyone feel welcome."
"Really enjoy my participation in the choir, met some great people, since I began participating. Would recommend this activity to anybody who can make the sessions."
To celebrate the NHS 75th birthday, the choir will be performing at a special concert on Friday 7 July, from 7-10pm at the Old Church, Stoke Newington Church Street, tickets, priced at £15 to cover venue costs.
