UCLH has retendered and awarded five-year contracts to two companies to provide estates and facilities services across UCLH.
CBRE will be providing ‘hard’ services which include mechanical and electrical maintenance. Medirest, the healthcare division of Compass Group UK & Ireland, will be providing ‘soft’ services which include catering, cleaning, portering and security. Both companies have extensive experience at UCLH and the wider NHS.
The two contractors will be responsible for delivering soft and hard services at the majority of our clinical and non-clinical sites. These services are currently carried out by several companies including Sodexo, Dron & Wright and Interserve, as well as CBRE and Medirest. Staff affected by these changes will be transferred over to the new companies.
Linda Martin, director of Estates and Facilities at UCLH, said: “We are always looking to improve the quality and efficiency of our services and we are very pleased to be working with CBRE and Medirest to provide the best possible service for all our patients, visitors and staff.
"The new contracts will bring a much needed standardisation of service across our many sites. They will also deliver new of ways of working and modern technology which will bring noticeably increased quality and benefits to staff and patients.”
Interserve will continue to provide existing hard and soft services at the University College Hospital building on Euston Road, which is not affected by the new contracts.
The first phase of the changeover will begin in October, with all changes implemented by the end of November.
CBRE currently provides mechanical and electrical support at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. Medirest has delivered catering services at Queen Square for 15 years and, more recently, at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals.
