The British Medical Association (BMA) and Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) have announced that their junior doctor members will take industrial action between 11 and 15 April. The strike action will impact all UCLH hospitals.
During strike action, we will prioritise emergency care and patients seeking urgent treatment will be seen. We are working hard to ensure we minimise disruption to services and maintain patient safety during this time.
We will contact patients directly to let them know if we need to rearrange their appointments. If you have an appointment at any of our hospitals, please assume this is going ahead unless you have been told otherwise. If you’re concerned and feel you need to speak to someone, please contact your clinical team using the contact information on your appointment letter or on our website.
We are working hard to make sure we maintain patient safety during this time, however, waiting times in our Emergency Department will be longer than normal. If the assessment team thinks the Emergency Department is not the best service for you during the industrial action you will be redirected to another service. If you need medical help or advice, go to NHS 111 online www.111.nhs.uk or call 111, unless it is a life-threatening emergency when you should still call 999.
The Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) will also take industrial action during the same period.
If you’re still concerned please visit our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) page.
