The centre opened in August 2021, and its staff played a vital role in the COVID-19 vaccination programme, including the drive in autumn/winter 2021 to give every eligible adult their booster, and rolling our vaccinations to younger groups, most recently children aged 5 to11.
The centre has also run a scheme to ensure that people who have had their vaccinations overseas can get them validated so they are able to prove their vaccinated status.
Staff at Bidborough House have worked hard to ensure that as many people as possible in the local community get their vaccinations, and that they are cared for, well supported and informed.
For the children’s vaccination clinic, staff asked local schoolchildren to send in artwork that represented their feelings about the pandemic and vaccination, and these were displayed on every wall of the clinic. Children coming in for their vaccinations were also given paper and art materials so they could create their own pictures to leave behind.
UCLH director of strategy Laura Churchward (pictured, far right) says: “I’m immensely proud of the work our vaccination programme has done in helping to get as many people vaccinated as possible. Bidborough House and its staff have played a major role in that, and have really pulled out all the stops to help to make sure everyone coming for their vaccination felt cared for and supported, including offering extra support for those who were worried or hesitant about having their vaccination. I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the staff who have worked at Bidborough in in the time it's been open.”
