ACT NOW in a Sickle Cell Crisis - Pilot Launch

The Red Cell Network have 4 out of the 15 pilot sites across the country participating in the official pilot of the ACT NOW acronym to improve patient experience and clinical outcomes for adults and children experiencing a sickle cell crisis.

The ACT NOW acronym is included in the Royal College of Emergency Medicine’s best practice guidance. 

Developed collaboratively with clinical experts and patients, it supports a rapid and effective response to a sickle cell crisis, covering necessary tests and continual assessment of pain levels.  

Staff working in the pilot site emergency departments can use ACT NOW resources. Further information and training are on the NHS London webpage (for all regions). 

We are thrilled that The Red Cell Network is contributing to this pilot by making our Sickle Cell training resources available to staff across all pilot sites.  

Look out for the ACT NOW materials in your hospital and complete the training to achieve 6 accredited CPD points from the Royal College of Nursing.
